The Liberal Democrats have called for the "forgotten" roads of Gloucester city centre to be repaired by the county council.

Dr Rebecca Trimnell, Liberal Democrat campaigner for Westgate, said Park Street, Parliament Street and Cromwell Street were in poor condition.

She spoke out after the county council announced plans to resurface The Quay and Commercial Road.

The work will take place overnight from September 29 until October 5, excluding the weekend.

"It is always great to hear that the county council is going to resurface roads in Westgate ward," said Dr Trimnell.

"However, there are other roads that also need doing, such as Park Street, Parliament Street and Cromwell Street.

"These seem to have been forgotten by the Conservative controlled county council.

"These particular roads are in an appalling state and the county council must do better to fix them here in Westgate."

Rebecca spoke with journalist Isabel Kimbrey of Greatest Hits Radio Gloucestershire to discuss Gloucester's roads.
