Let's adopt Earl's Park

The area known as Earls Park, between Tuffley Crescent and Bristol Road, Podsmead, is covered by a Section 38 agreement between Gloucestershire County Council and the developer, which was signed in 2017. This legal agreement does not allow for partial adoption of any of the site until the entire development has been completed. This could take several more years. Meanwhile the section of the estate off Tuffley Crescent (Manu Marble Way and Neven Place) is already finished and has been for some time. It is a separate area in that there is no legal vehicle cut-through to the Bristol Road side of the estate, and it is only accessible on foot. This area could be adopted and the legal agreement altered with consent from both parties. Matthew Homes have asked many times for this to happen. It has also been suggested that due to the estate being unadopted, the area does not currently fall into a catchment area for secondary schools. We the undersigned would like to see the area known as Earls Park be adopted by the county council Highways department in order to allow repair of roads and pavements, and also to aid the implementation of traffic markings and stop problem parking. We call on the county council and Matthew Homes to renegotiate an agreement which would allow for the adoption of one side of the estate, and would no doubt speed up the process for the completion and adoption of the whole estate. We back Councillor Sebastian Field’s campaign to get this area adopted by Gloucestershire County Council.
