Say no to Whaddon Grange housing development

The Liberal Democrats are against the Whaddon Grange development

Local residents are being urged to have their say on proposals to build nearly 3,000 homes at Whaddon if a planning application is submitted.

Tuffley Liberal Democrats are opposed to the scheme and believe the knock-on impact to the local community means a planning application should be rejected.

Although Whaddon is on the outskirts of Gloucester it is Stroud District Council councillors who will decide the planning application.

Caroline Courtney said: “I went to the public consultation held by Taylor Wimpey and spent some time with the project manager discussing their plans for the roads, amenities and flood management systems.

“Unfortunately he was unable to persuade me this is a suitable site for a development of this size. I am not convinced by the plans for St Barnabas roundabout and there are no guarantees shops, healthcare
provision and other amenities will be built if Whaddon Grange is approved.

“The likelihood is that these 2,750 households will be registering with already oversubscribed doctors and dentists in Gloucester.”

“The plan to replace St Barnabas roundabout with traffic lights will just lead to more vehicles on an already busy Finlay Road.

“I discussed flood management with the lead engineer and it was interesting to see the plans for this.”
